Meet Tofu!!!
Tofu is a lovely adult Torti who was found wandering a field with 2 middle toes on a back leg gone! The bones were there, but no flesh, fur, muscle ...nothing. Her rescurer probably saved her life by giving her some antibiotics that she had left over from another cat. Once CCC got Tofu our vet preformed miracle surgery and managed to save the foot by leaving the pad for Tofu to walk on.
Even with the best of care, from antibiotic therapy to water therapy, unfortunately the foot would not heal. Then Tofu decided to take matters into her own hands (front paws) and began to lick and chew on the foot causing a ugly and probably very painful stump.
The only solution left was amputation of the leg which took place on Dec. 31st.
Tofu came through surgery very well. She is back at her foster home recovering nicely and learning to walk on one less leg. She is eating well and enjoying lots of TLC, hugs and cuddles from her foster Mom.
As you can imagine, Tofu's vet bill has been much larger than our usual per cat cost. If you would like to help Cat Connection with Tofu's expenses please go to the Contact Us page for our address.
We thank you and Tofu will thank you too!
After all poor Tofu has gone through and the surgery she STILL needs a forever home!
3 legged cats make great companions!
